KTE 1: Recruitment & Enrollment of BIPOC Candidates
Aim
In partnership with San Juan Unified School District (SJUSD), the Sacramento team aims to increase the number of BIPOC teachers employed in SJUSD to better reflect the demographics of the students they serve. By 2024, CSUS will increase the matriculation of BIPOC candidates by 10%. By 2025, the retention of BIPOC candidates through completion of credential will increase by 10%. By 2026, the number of BIPOC completers employed in SJUSD within 1 year will increase by 100%."
Key Leverage Areas Being Addressed
The CSUS team aims to tackle multiple stages of their teacher pipeline to increase the diversity of their candidate pipeline in partnership with SJUSD. In their first phase of work, they have focused on the processes and practices related to matriculation, clearances for placement, and providing info. about available financial support. Additionally they have focused on supports for current BIPOC candidates to ensure success throughout the program and into their teaching careers.
