The Cal State Long Beach team aims to increase the percentage of Multiple Subject Credential candidates who submit the CalTPA during their practicum semester from 75% to 90% and succeed with a similar or increased pass rate (at least 80%, with a goal of 85% pass rate) by the end of spring semester 2023. Their goal is that marginalized/ non-dominant racial/ethnic subgroups would not be disproportionately represented among non-submitters & non-passers.

Aim
Key Leverage Areas Being Addressed
The Long Beach team is focusing their efforts on a more holistically supportive version of their CalTPA practicum that includes reduced class sizes and 1:1 coaching with students. They are focusing on supporting the particular challenges that BIPOC candidates face that lead to them not completing the CalTPA. In addition, they have trained university supervisors in incorporating CalTPA practices.
